Meadow Room
Our Meadow Room is a bright and beautiful part of the setting, where children put down their roots and begin to grow.
The Nursery includes a warm and inviting Playroom complete with Air Conditioning, flowing into a beautiful and cosy carpeted area that incudes an exciting Community Playthings climbing area. This leads onto a peaceful sleep room, where children relax in a darkened room with classical music and pretty mobiles. The Sleep Room has recording video monitors to enable staff to check on sleeping children without interruption, along with a feeding chair for snuggly one-to-one bottles before bed.
The Meadow Room enjoys direct indoor-outdoor access to a secure, self-contained Garden, where the children will be able to explore and investigate, support by our team of experienced professionals, as well as access to our beautiful Sensory Room.
Children are given the freedom to develop at their own pace, concentrating on a ‘Sense of Belonging’ and ‘Sense of Time’ throughout their time in this Nursery.
Our Meadow Room is run by a highly experienced team, who all maintain high standards of hygiene and provide first-class, individual care for each child.
JOINING THE MEADOW ROOM
SETTLING: We take pride in our Settling process at Willow House. No one settle is the same – every child and parent is different! Families are invited to take their time while settling – getting to know the team and the environment, before slowly withdrawing to have a drink in our Kitchen, while we see how your child is doing without you. Settles under two hours, accompanied by parents, are free of charge. Once you leave your child unaccompanied at nursery for two hours or more, settles are charged on a pro-rata basis.
CAR SEATS/PRAMS: Unfortunately we are not blessed with a lot of spare storage space, and we therefore request that parents do not leave car seats unless absolutely necessary. Do be aware that these items are not stored indoors, nor is the outdoor shelter watertight.
COMFORT OBJECTS: Young babies settling often require a Comforter – you are more than welcome to bring in a special teddy etc (named is always preferable!). If your child has a dummy, you are required to bring in a named Dummy Pot – as we do endeavour to ensure dummies are only used as comfort objects and do not remain with the child when they do not need it.
HAIR CLIPS AND DECORATIONS: It’s amazing how quickly some children’s hair grows, and we appreciate the need for clips to maintain unruly locks, however, do bear in mind these could be a choking hazard in the Meadow Room. Please ensure hair accessories are used for practical purposes and not simply for decoration.
REST AND SLEEP: Our youngest children sleep in double-decker bunk cots, whenever they require a rest. Peaceful music is played, soothing them to sleep. Sleep times are noted on each child’s ParentZone entry.
TWO-YEAR CHECK: As part of the Integrated Review, whenever your child turns two, you will be invited into the Nursery to have a meeting with your child’s Key Carer to go through their Development Check. We will ensure we have the most accurate picture of your child! You will then be given a copy to take with you to your child’s Two-Year Health Check with their Health Visitor.
FOOTWEAR: To aid in your child’s growing independence, our children are requested to bring slippers (with non-stick soles) to wear indoors, and wellington boots to wear outdoors. We will support them in changing their footwear and feel that wellies and slippers offer the best opportunity to increase your child’s independence levels. We are fortunate as a setting (as opposed to many situations at home) that we can take as long as is necessary to prepare to go outside – meaning the children can spend as long as they wish helping one another to put on their coats and learning to do zips and poppers up on coats.
We are not hugely blessed with storage space, so please do not bring multiple pairs of outdoor footwear to Nursery – children do not need to bring a pair of trainers AND a pair of wellies, one pair of your choosing will suffice.
SENSORY ROOM: Our youngest children spend lots of time in the Sensory Room. It offers plenty of resources to excite the senses, including a large Bubble Tube where children can be mesmerised by bubbles, a UV light accompanied by a wealth of UV responsive materials, and much more. The room is also equipped with other auditory and sensory resources that enable children to explore the cause and effect of their chosen actions.
